What makes the weekend better? Beer!!! I made the trip up to Gainesville not too long ago to check out Swamp Head Brewery and see about the different beer they are making. Luke, owner, and Craig, Head Brewmaster, were kind enough to show me around and talk beer.

Home Brewing: Face On Yellow

Ever wanted to brew your own beer but thought it was going to be too hard? I’ve brewed and it was incredibly easy. I never thought in a million years it would be this easy to make my own beer, but you could totally do it too. First though, you need the right equipment. When it came time to find my home brew kit I found a bunch of different places online that sell them, but I think Homebrewers.com have the best kits. Plus if you need anything else to brew, they have it.

When was the last time you visited Melbourne, Florida? It’s been at least 8 years for me, but I’ve got a great reason for you to make the trek up I-95… beer! I’m serious!

Worth driving almost 4 hours for beer? You’re damn right! Some drive hours to amusement parks, sporting events, or if you’re like me, you’ll drive a few hours for great beer! If you are a beer fan, let me be one of the first to tell you, you absolutely need to make the trip. Cigar City makes some of the best beer in Florida, and many can be found locally either at A Picky Gourmet or Total Wine. What I was most interested in was their “brewery only” beers.

Shipyard: XXXX IPA

XXXX IPA? More like XX IPA. Just by the name I was expecting this really big bold tasting beer. But I wouldn’t even call this an Imperial IPA. Don’t get me wrong, it tasty, but just not what I was expecting. I was going to give it a rating of 3 because it is just an alright IPA but because it’s almost 10% abv, I’ll give it a 3.5 out of 5 because it’s so easy to drink. Beer Advocate gives it an B

Top 33 Beer Pong Tables!

These are some pretty cool Beer Pong tables. Not really for craft beer, but still fun. Don’t know if I agree with how they are ranked, but my favorite by far is #10. Just change out the bottles to better ones and the table kicks ass.
